The Cave Anchor and Rope Project

The organization was started by cavers in Colorado with a goal of improving fixed rigging in caves across the state. Many of the early projects were in Williams Canyon and White River National Forest. The project scope has now expanded beyond state lines. This website, which can be accessed through www.caveanchors.org, will be used to share general information on rigging techniques, and share some of the projects that have been completed. We have an operating budget that is managed through the Colorado Grotto, cache of rigging hardware, and the tools and experience to help with cave rigging improvements. Use the Contact button with questions or requests. We also maintain a detailed database of fixed ropes and anchors that allows better tracking and maintenance.

Below are some documented examples of rigging projects that have been completed. Many of these reports explain a bit about the gear and strategies used, and may be a useful resource for aspiring riggers.
